Girls & Boys Shine At Regional Floor & Vault Competition

Worthing Gymnastics Club were back in action for the last time this year as the novice boys & girls floor and vault squad competed at the South East Regional Novice Floor & Vault competition.

For the majority of our gymnasts, this was their first competition with six out of the ten medalling and a 10/10 for all round effort and fun.

First up in round 3, Edward Nealon and Charlotte Moore set the tone of the day superbly by clinching 3rd places and bronze medals in the 2007 boys and girls categories. Also amongst the medals in round 3 was Harvey Lloyd who secured a solid second place silver in the boys 2008 category.

Just missing out on podium places in round 3 were Bella Gill-Stephenson who took home a hard fought 6th place rosette in the girls 2010 category and Max Reeves who’d set the highest score on floor in the 2011 boys category and placed 4th.

Then came the afternoon and round 4 which delivered much of the same. In the 2007 girls and boys categories, Aysha Hardy earnt a stupendous silver while Hugo Szaniawski stood at the top of the podium with gold.

In the same round, Milly Grim took to the arena in the girls 2008 category seeing her finish with a 5th place rosette and the highest score on vault.

Last up for WGC were Lyla Wilson and Samuel Parfoot in the girls and boys 2009 age groups. Lyla came 11th amongst many top gymnasts and Samuel rounded off a great day with gold.

As always, a big thank you to our coaches Heather, Leilani and Megan for attending the competition and looking after our gymnasts and a huge well done to everyone that competed – you represented our club and community outstandingly.
